Hip Pocket Bartender

When I was twenty I went to bar tending school with the thought that I'd know how to tend bar as soon as I turned 21. While I did get a job as a bartender at 21 the bar tending school had been a complete waste of time and money. I learned a few bar terms and what basic drinks to learn, but bar tending is a skill you learn from doing the same things over and over until it's second nature. However, like anything else worth while you will get out of it what you put into it. Believe me it's a much harder lesson to actually learn. A few years ago I was lucky enough to find myself working for one of the best Chefs in the country, a Sommelier / World class bartender; and a general manager that inspired the culture of excellence they demanded of their team. I will always be grateful to those two men that were so free with their knowledge and support because it inspired me to not just be very good at my job but be the best. Some of you will buy this thinking you will have the answers in your pocket so learning about your craft won't be important and that's cool. For a few people this will be the first step in becoming one of the best. I will be forever grateful to my EVE family and the lessons I learned.This isn't a recipe book of cocktails.
