Our Mission
The Free High School for Adults opened in 2002 to provide the highest quality secondary education and a government-certified diploma to under-served adolescents and adults, rural and urban, excluded from the regular high schools. Over a thousand proud graduates are improving their own lives and the lives of their family members, and changing the culture and the economy of the entire region.
For Women with Children, Daycare on Campus
Students excluded from the regular high school include women with children, pregnant girls, anyone over eighteen, people who work on weekdays to support their families, and those who live too far from the city to attend daily high schools. To make it easier for women with children to attend, in 2017 we opened a beautiful, well-furnished Daycare Center, Casa Solidaridad, right on the Campus.
Securing the future of our community
A report focusing on rural high school programs (2010) praises our structure, our staff and teachers, and the results we achieve with our students: “The FHS is providing quality secondary education in rural communities that would not otherwise have access to this level of schooling.”
Our technology on Campus is State of the Art
The new computers in the Computer Lab/ Library were a donation from Random Acts when the first building opened in 2017. All seven other classrooms also have projectors and screens, thanks to Child’s Play.
